RATE OF PAY:                         $20.96/hour

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:   Responsible for the development, maintenance and enhancement of the Borough’s Geographic Information System.  Uses GIS and CAD software to develop and maintain Borough GIS System.  Uses GIS software to make queries and perform informational analysis of location, relationship treads, and proximity of complex features and data.  Generates standard and custom reports, maps, diagrams, exhibits and displays.   Develops and maintains GIS layers and databases for use in borough departments.  Provides specifications for the purchase of GIS software and hardware.  Researches and verifies accuracy of GIS materials and data sources.  Identifies sources of data in relationship to existing data and designs strategies for incorporation into GIS.  Collects field data and checks data in the field as required.  Performs general maintenance and trouble shoots problems with GIS hardware and software.  Acts as instrument operator for the survey crew and assists the sewer inspector as required. Completes tree surveys, assigns house numbers, investigates complaints and work orders.  Reviews and approves street and road permits.  Reviews and approves construction and survey plans including proposed plot plans and as-builts.  Proficient at researching and indexing engineering files and gathers information from other department including Town Clerk, Assessors and Planning Office.  

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:  Will work under the Borough Engineer.

 

QUALIFICATIONS – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework, geographic information sy systems (GIS), geography, cartography, land planning, civil engineering or closely related field and 2 years experiences OR graduation from a technical school and 5 years experience.  Two years experience in ArcView, ArcGis, COGO and AUTOCAD.  Experience with relational databases including Access is highly desirable.  Experience and working knowledge in the field of surveying construction and the principles and practices of civil engineering. Must be able to receive direct oral and written instructions. Ability to work cooperatively, communicate in a concise and courteous fashion with the public, supervisors, department heads and employees.  Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, office machines and business procedures.

POSITION:                               Electrical Inspector

DEPARTMENT:                         Building Office

WORKING HOURS:                  19 HOURS PER WEEK

RATE OF PAY:                         $25.00/hour

UNION:                                     Non-Union

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs field inspections of residential and commercial properties in Naugatuck for State of Connecticut Electrical Compliance.  Issues electrical permits and reviews electrical prints and specifications for code compliance.  Issues corrective orders as required. Light counter work regarding electrical code questions.  Works with other departments within the Borough as required.  Performs other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned by Building Official.  Work schedule is as follows:  Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:  Reports to the Building Official.

 

QUALIFICATIONS – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The qualified candidate will possess at least a High School Diploma.  Must possess current and valid State of Connecticut license as an Electrical Inspector.  Proficient verbal, written and communication skills.  Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, office machines and business procedures as well as excellent customer service skills.
