Dear Residents and Visitors,
Today is a great new day in the Borough of Naugatuck. As a community, let us
look forward to continuing the efforts of past administrations in making
Naugatuck a destination where our families and businesses will thrive. As
your Mayor, I am excited that all of the hard work and dedication of so many
over the last few years is showing positive results within our town and
throughout the State of Connecticut.
We are now making a concerted effort to address strengthening Naugatuck’s
tax base by the recent signing of the Renaissance Place development
agreement. This is a planned smart growth project that will revitalize our
downtown area to bring in new retail, entertainment, corporate and tech-flex
business. Along with residential living that will put people right in the
midst of all the action, Renaissance Place will utilize our beautiful
riverfront walk, a handsomely remodeled train station and close proximity to
Route 8 and I-84 to give residents the amenities of a large city but with a
small town appeal.
Our school system has seen many top rated students pass through its doors
and our very dedicated educators and administrators are a shining example of
what good education is all about. Our Naugatuck High School has recently
undergone the scrutiny of reaccredidation and has excelled in meeting those
standards. The High School also boasts NVL league championships as well as
many state championships in various sports. Many extracurricular activities
such as Marching Band and ROTC help give our students a well rounded
learning experience that will assist them in pursuing higher levels of
education and in being responsible adults. Educating our children enhances
our community.
I would like to thank all of our dedicated Borough employees, board and
commission members and the many volunteer and social service agencies that
regularly give so much to our community. I look forward to working with all
of you.
I am excited to begin my tenure as your new Mayor and I look forward toward
creating an atmosphere of renaissance excitement in the Borough.
Best regards,
Mike Bronko
Mayor
