Veolia Water Alerts Citizens on Odor Hotline
Naugatuck, Conn., July 28, 2009 – Veolia Water North America – Northeast, the company providing operations and maintenance services for the Naugatuck Wastewater Treatment Facility, wants to remind citizens of an odor hotline available on a 24/7 basis.
Any citizen with an odor complaint who believes the odor could have emanated from the Naugatuck facility (located at 500 Cherry St, Naugatuck CT 06770), should contact Veolia Water at 888-682-1433 or 723-1433. With either number, if you do not reach someone, please leave a detailed message at Extension 2001. Your inquiry will be promptly addressed.
“The plant’s number has always been readily available, but we wanted to reinforce to the community that we’d like to hear from anyone who believes odors from the wastewater treatment facility are detectable,” said John Batorski, Veolia Water Plant Manager. “It’s important for us to understand the exact time and location of a potential complaint so that we can compare it to plant activities occurring at that time.”
Over the past several years, Veolia Water has implemented numerous facility improvements at considerable cost. Odor complaints were dramatically reduced, especially within the last year, as a result of these technological and operational improvements.
Veolia Water continues to work closely with the Borough of Naugatuck and the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection on potential odor concerns. An independent odor-control expert is currently conducting an additional evaluation of the facility.
