Naugatuck Curbside Recycling Program

***Effective immediately all recyclable items listed below may be mixed together in your blue bin. The Connecticut Resource Recovery where our recyclables are dropped off has now gone Single Stream which means they are now responsible for the sorting of our materials.

What's Accepted How to Prepare
Metal Food & Beverage Containers Rinse clean, tuck lid into can, DO NOT CRUSH, Label OK.
Glass Jars & Bottles Rinse clean, Throw out lids as trash. NO drinking glasses, NO ceramics, NO windows.
Plastic Bottles ( #1 Thru #7 ) BOTTLES ONLY! Rinse clean, Throw caps out as trash. DO NOT Flatten, NO plastic bottles over 3 gallons in size. NO oil, NO antifreeze & No chemical bottles.
Milk & Juice Cartons & Juice Boxes  Milk, juice cartons & juice boxes need to be rinsed and remove the straw. DO NOT FLATTEN.
Newspapers, Newspaper inserts, Junk Mail, Catalogs & Magazines Residents can tie  place in paper brown paper bag or put in bin with all other recyclables.
Corrugated Cardboard Flatten Boxes and cut into 2ft Sq. pieces. Tie into bundles and place in or on top of recycling bin. Large boxes are accepted at our recycling center without having to be cut.
NEW!!! Material Known As Boxboard: Shoe Boxes, Cereal Boxes,  Pasta Boxes (remove plastic window), Home Office Paper, Computer Paper Mix. Flatten Boxes and place all items in paper bag or tie into bundles to avoid paper from blowing away.

 

NEW!!! Empty Aerosol Cans Containing Non-Hazardous Material ALL cans must be emptied and may be placed into the along with all your other recyclable items in your blue bin.

Recycling is collected every other week on the same day as your refuse.

Additional bins are available at our office Monday - Friday 8am - 3:30pm or at the recycling center on Thursday & Saturday 8am-2pm.
