GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Directs and supervises the human resources, affirmative action, labor relations and risk management programs for the Naugatuck Board of Education and Borough of Naugatuck. Responsible for the maintenance of employment records, the recruitment and selection of personnel, employee/labor relations’ activities and assisting the Superintendent of Schools and Mayor.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Superintendent of Schools and Mayor.
QUALIFICATIONS – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The qualified candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in business or a related field with applicable human resources experience supplemented with a minimum of 5 years experience in a senior level human resources management position in the public or private sector. Certification in HR. Experience with grievances, negotiations and day-to-day relationships with unions highly preferred. Experience in the successful recruitment and retention of high-quality staff. Understanding of effective practices regarding professional development and staff supervision/evaluation. Requires strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products; the ability handle multiple priorities and demands; proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public.
