4/24/2012 - Naugatuck Smoke Testing Public Notice
Veolia Water crews will be smoke testing sanitary sewers as part of the Borough’s ongoing sanitary sewer inspection program. The following sewers in the following streets will be smoke tested on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.: Cross Street, Cotton Hollow Court, Meadowbrook Place and a portion of Beacon Valley Road. (rain/wind date - Thursday, April 26, 2012)
The smoke testing helps to identify areas where “clear” water is entering the system and could cause sanitary sewer backups. If smoke should enter your building during the test, it probably means that there are defects in the plumbing that could allow dangerous sewer gas to enter your home. This testing cannot be conducted during rainy periods or windy conditions. The smoke has no odor, is non-toxic, non-staining, does not create a fire hazard, and will dissipate in a few minutes. If you have any questions, or desire more information, notify the waste water facility @ 203-723-1433 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. so that we can discuss your concerns in further detail or answer any questions you may have.
