1/22/2013 - Strategic Planning Kick-Off at Tri-Boards Meeting Tuesday 1/22/2013

Strategic Planning Kick-Off at Tri-Boards Meeting Next Tuesday 1/22/2013

Consultants from Blum Shapiro will introduce the strategic planning process for Borough government at a meeting of the Tri-Boards (Board of Education, Board of Finance and Board of Mayor and Burgesses) next Tuesday, January 22, 2013, 7:00 PM, at the City Hill Middle School (441 City Hill Street, Naugatuck, CT 06770). The meeting is open to the public.

The Board of Mayor and Burgesses authorized the agreement between the Borough and Blum Shapiro to professionally assess the operations of local government (both municipal and board of education) in November of 2012. A committee comprised of representatives from different aspects of Borough government selected Blum Shapiro after analyzing presentations from multiple firms made over the Summer of 2012. A statement of work discussing the comprehensive focus of the strategic planning process can be viewed here. The project has been overseen by the Borough’s Finance Department, led by Comptroller and Board of Education Business Manager Wayne McAllister.

Lead consultant Jeffrey I. Ziplow will present the details and time frame of the process to Tri-Board members. Interviews, focus groups and a community survey will follow shortly thereafter the meeting. While the entire strategic planning process will take several months, we hope to gather some information during the initial phases that can be helpful as we begin to craft the 2013-2014 budget. We urge all concerned citizens to attend next Tuesday (1/22/2013) to learn about this exciting initiative.
