POSITION: PART-TIME PER-DIEM CROSSING GUARD

WORKING HOURS: MORNINGS & AFTERNOONS/SCHOOL YEAR CALENDAR
UP TO 19 HOURS PER WEEK
RATE OF PAY: $11.04 PER HOUR
DATE: AUGUST 28, 2014

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: While at assigned location during the designated times, will be aware of traffic situation at that location at all times. He/she shall maintain a watch on all school age children as they approach the cross walk. The Crossing Guard shall have the children stay safely on the sidewalk while the crossing guard enters the road way and displaying the stop sign stops ALL approaching traffic. When the Crossing Guard has stopped all approaching traffic and when he/she feels it is safe to do so, the Crossing Guard shall motion and call the children to cross in the cross walk. The Crossing Guard shall remain in the road way until all children have crossed safely to the other side of the road.

All applicants subject to a complete background investigation satisfactory to the Chief of Police.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Shall work under the direction of the Chief of Police or his designee, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the Naugatuck Police Department and scheduling requirements of the Police Department. Receives on the job supervision from assigned shift supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
High School Diploma or GED. Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older. Must be of good moral conduct and police background check will be performed. Applicants can not be convicted of any felony charges or any misdemeanor charges that involve children, moral or safety concerns.
