WORKING HOURS: UP TO 19 HOURS PER WEEK
RATE OF PAY: $12.1380 PER HOUR

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Part-time custodial/maintenance position at the Police Department is responsible for general cleanliness and sanitation of the police department building, both interior and exterior, as well as assisting with other maintenance-related duties as necessary. Responsible for the general cleanliness and sanitation of the police department building; to include all sinks, toilets, showering facilities, floors, stairways, and other surfaces/areas. Specific duties to include mopping, vacuuming, dusting, stripping and waxing of tile floors, carpet shampooing and the wiping/scrubbing of surfaces and bathroom amenities with appropriate cleaners/disinfectants. Empties all trash receptacles and recycling bins. Light landscaping to include mowing, weed-wacking, weeding, shrub trimming, and the occasional clearing of snow/ice from doorways and exterior walkways. Advises the maintenance supervisor of any necessary building repairs and maintenance supply inventory. Performs other janitorial duties as required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Detective Lieutenant

QUALIFICATIONS – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must possess a High School Diploma or GED with previous custodial/maintenance experience preferred. Must have a valid State of Connecticut driver’s license. Candidate shall be subject to a thorough Police background and criminal check satisfactory to the Chief of Police. Should be mechanically inclined. Must be able to receive and follow oral and written instructions. Will have to work independently. Ability to work cooperatively as well as communicate in a concise and courteous fashion with the public, supervisors, department heads, and employees.
