2/6/2011 - Schools Roofs Will Be Clear by Monday Morning

School roofs will be clear of snow by Monday (2/7/2011) morning, with very limited exceptions. The following schools are completely clear as of 2:15 PM on Sunday (2/6/2011):

City Hill Middle School
Cross Street Intermediate School
Hillside Intermediate School
Andrew Avenue Elementary School
Maple Hill Elementary School
Salem Elementary School
Western Elementary School
Prospect Street Pre-Kindergarten School and
Naugatuck Day Care Center (Borough-owned building).
Work continues at Central Avenue Elementary School and is expected to be completed by 4:00 PM. Clean-up of snow and ice removed from roofs is being completed currently.

Approximately three (3) of fifteen (15) sections of Naugatuck High School are being addressed at this time (2:15 PM), but will be completed by the morning (2/7/2011). Most resources was diverted to the high school early this afternoon to finish this absolutely enormous operation.

The gymnasium at Hop Brook Elementary School still needs to be clear. A crew is scheduled to complete this task beginning Monday (2/7/2011) morning, and complete the task by the end of the day. This should not prevent students from attending, but may alter physical education classes for Monday (2/7/2011) only. This decision will be made by educational administration.

As of this time, there should be no reason that would prevent schools from being in session district-wide on Monday (2/7/2011) relating to school roofs. Custodial staff is addressing relatively minor leaks at various schools, but no structural damage is being reported. Any delays relating to road icing will be assessed separately by the Superintendent and the Business Manager in accordance with standard procedure.

The people to thank this weekend for accomplishing this mammoth task are too many to mention at this time. We will do so later in the week. The structural integrity of our buildings have been secured through great effort.
