POSITION: CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR
DEPARTMENT: BUILDING
WORKING HOURS: 8:30 – 4:00
RATE OF PAY: $30.00 PER HOUR

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Examines documents of building construction, alteration or repair.
• Inspects installations for compliance with applicable code requirements to ensure the safety of the occupants.
• Investigates for compliance with structural safety requirements.
• Recommends to the building official corrective actions associated with the enforcement of unsafe conditions in new and existing installations, where warranted.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school/vocational school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three (3) years practical experience in building construction.
• Must possess a Construction Inspector License from the State of Connecticut.
• Must possess a valid CT driver’s license.
• Demonstration of a thorough knowledge of the materials, methods and techniques used in building construction, reading and interpreting plan and specifications, applicable codes, referenced standards and other related regulations, and recognizing faulty construction or hazardous and unsafe conditions.
• Basic Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Google Docs, Etc.)
• Ability to attend a minimum of thirty (30) hours of approved continuing education programs over consecutive three-year periods.
