Borough of Naugatuck to Dedicate Landmark Downtown Mural in Partnership with RiseUP for Arts NAUGATUCK, CT [6/10/26] The Borough of Naugatuck is proud to announce the official dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony for the borough's newest public art installation. The community is invited to gather on Monday, June 15th at 4:30 PM at the back of the Fire Station located at 41 Maple Street, overlooking Old Firehouse Road, to celebrate the completion of the vibrant new mural painted by internationally acclaimed artist ARCY.

Managed by Connecticut's statewide public art nonprofit, RiseUP for Arts, this installation is a key component of Naugatuck's broader strategy to reinvigorate downtown, drive economic foot traffic, and foster civic pride through arts and culture.

"Our administration continues to advance a vision for downtown Naugatuck where world-class art is central to community life," said Mayor Pete Hess. "This mural's completion is a vibrant symbol of our community's strength and collective spirit. As we dedicate this space, we're energized by the possibilities it opens for downtown Naugatuck".

The Borough extends its sincere appreciation to the dedicated partners and community leaders who saw this two-plus-year project through to the finish line 

Mayor Pete Hess: For his transformative vision to reinvigorate downtown Naugatuck through arts and culture, and his steadfast commitment to securing the funding for this project.

Francis Santana and the Naugatuck Arts Commission: For igniting the project from Day 1, serving as relentless advocates, and driving the creative vision for the borough.

The Naugatuck Board of Burgesses: For their continuous support, partnership, and guidance throughout the community design process.

Attorney Ned Fitzpatrick: For his generosity in allowing the back of his building at 172 Church Street to serve as the canvas for this historic artwork.

RiseUP for Arts: For their project management expertise and long-term commitment to bringing creative placemaking and youth engagement to Naugatuck.

 ARCY (Lead Artist): For his patience, incredible talent, and creative dedication to ensuring the final mural perfectly reflects our community.

Katiana Jarbath Smith: RiseUP's former Director of Operations, who helped build the early operational foundation for this successful partnership.

 

Residents, local business owners, and visitors are encouraged to join borough officials and project partners on Old Firehouse Road on Monday, June 15th at 4:30 PM to officially welcome this stunning artwork to downtown Naugatuck.
