Responsibility

The Naugatuck Office of Emergency Management is responsible for maintaining a local emergency operations plan. The plan serves as an all-hazards guideline for the Borough of Naugatuck to respond to and recover from major emergencies or disasters that affect the town.

The Emergency Management Director coordinates the recruitment, training, and maintenance of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). CERT is a volunteer organization comprised of citizens trained to assist their community in times of natural and/or man-made disasters.

Naugatuck Emergency Management is responsible for operating the CodeRed notification system.  CodeRed alerts notify residents of situations that may require action, such as an evacuation or other time-sensitive information.  Alerts are available by phone, text, email, and TTY.

Naugatuck Emergency Management collaborates closely with the Connecticut Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, as well as the Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments, on planning, incident response, training, and emergency preparedness grants.
